Truth be told, I’ve never made a resolution forNew Year’s before. I’m your textbook Virgo: meticulous, analytical, productive. I’ve always been on top of my goals and the deadlines I set for myself are achieved with ease.

Then came parenthood.

So my sweet little Fox threw a bit of a wrench into my spokes and guidelines I’ve set for myself have fallen to the wayside while feeding, cuddling, bathing, and playing with my little one. But now it’s time to set some standards that I must hit, and the first step will be a healthier me.

February 7th, 2016 marks Fox’s 1st birthday which officially gives my “oh it’s just baby weight” excuse a big kick in the rear. I am officially making this my New Year’s resolution.

Here are a few items I’ve brainstormed to get myself in tiptop shape this coming year.

Take More Walks

Something as simple as parking further away from the store or something as big as walking a few miles to and from the store can really help me to feel more energized. I’m one of those people who gains encouragement from results, so a teeny drop in weight or a small boost of energy can have huge effects on my psyche in terms of wanting to continue down a healthy path – literally.

Drink2 Liters of Water Per Day

I’ve never been a liquid kind of girl. I oddly hate the taste of water, I’m not into pop, and it takes a major twist of the arm for me to have a co*cktail. I’ve found a small loophole though: add a squeeze of lemon, fresh fruits, or herbs (think mint) to water bottles to change the mundane flavor of your run-of-the-mill quencher.

PlanMeals Ahead

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that one of the most helpful things I’ve done since becoming a mom was to schedule meal delivery. At first it made me feel defeated that I couldn’t complete a simple task like cooking each night, but once I got over that feeling I realized that if help is offered you take it! In the coming months I’d like to take it upon myself to create my meals ahead of time one or two days a week and refrigerate them for use when it’s convenient.

Create a Workout Schedule

I tend to hit goals if given an exact deadline. Keeping timeslots in the calendar for a 30-minute workout several times a week will ensure that I don’t forget and hold me accountable in writing.

SnackBetter

I have to admit that my idea of snacking these days consists of eating baby’s puff cereal. It’s super low cal, but doesn’t fill me up or have great nutritional value. Finding snacks to incorporate into my diet and eat in moderation will keep the puffs in Fox’s hands and the greasy chips out of mine.

I’ve partnered with Chobani® to share a better-for-yourecipe to set the tone for my upcoming new and improved physique. I’m calling my creation Protein-Infused Yogurt Covered Pretzels. I chosethis particular product to showcase how to eat high in protein and low in fat while leaving the option open forcountless options to come out of that wonderful 32-ounce container of only natural, non-genetically modified ingredients.

I realize that I can’t have yogurt covered pretzels every day, so I’ll use my remaining yogurtthat I purchased at Walmart to create some fresh fruit parfaits or eat it alone. Yogurtis hands down Fox’s favorite snack at the moment, so it’s like a delicacy in my household since the second the spoon touches my tongue he wants it for himself.

Funnystory: it was Chobani® Yogurt that taught my son how to use a spoon to eat all by himself at only 10 months old. When the yogurt was gone out of the cup he picked it up and slurped around the edged like it was a bowl of soup!

It’s worth noting thatthis product can substitute sour cream, mayonnaise, andoilto create new variations of your favorite recipes with 40% less sugar than other yogurts and packed with three types of probiotics.
